Jewry Wall Museum offers families the chance to travel back almost 2,000 years and explore what life was like in Roman Leicester.
Once known as Ratae Corieltauvorum, Roman Leicester was an important settlement in the East Midlands. Today, the remains of this fascinating Roman city can still be discovered at Jewry Wall.
Inside the recently refurbished museum, you can discover the people, places and everyday life of Roman Leicester through fascinating archaeology, interactive displays and hands-on experiences.

Celebrating one year since Jewry Wall reopened
It’s also a particularly exciting time to visit.
Jewry Wall Museum recently celebrated its first anniversary since reopening following a major redevelopment. The museum has been transformed into an engaging visitor experience, helping bring Leicester’s Roman past to life for a new generation.
The museum combines the incredible surviving archaeology of Leicester with immersive storytelling, interactive experiences and fascinating artefacts.
And, of course, the spectacular Jewry Wall itself remains at the heart of the experience.
