Curriculum enrichment sessions
Explore the exhibition and get hands-on with genuine Roman artefacts
Roman Baths - Explore the site (Key Stage 2 & 3)
Our Roman Baths session will take place outside in the ruins of the Baths site, unless the weather is extremely poor. We encourage you and your class to dress appropriately for spending time outdoors, although we do have a stock of waterproof ponchos which you are welcome to use too.
Re-trace the steps of Roman citizens through the bathing process, using replica artefacts to help understand the different stages. By the end of this session, pupils will understand what people did in the Baths, the importance of the Baths as a social space and how the Baths functioned.
Combine your visit with one of our facilitated learning sessions from £4.50 per pupil (this is in addition to the ticket price).
Roman artefacts handling session (Key Stage 2 & 3)
Our Roman artefacts handling session will give students the chance to handle and examine Roman finds from Leicester and further afield. Students will experience how artefacts help us understand life in a Roman town and how archaeologists and historians interpret this evidence.
Key stage 2 pupils will make their own votive from soap and learn how Romans used votives in prayers to their gods.
Key stage 3 students will sketch one of the artefacts, making annotations on colour, material, measurements, and other features. Students will learn how archaeological illustration is used in the field to aid the documentation of finds.
Combine your visit with one of our facilitated learning sessions from £4.50 per pupil (this is in addition to the ticket price).
