Looking Back to Launch Day at Jewry Wall

MSP LCC 26JUL25 4047

What an incredible day! We were absolutely thrilled to celebrate the official launch of the new Jewry Wall exhibition, an exciting new chapter for the museum and a true jewel in Leicester's crown.

The day was marked by a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, with the Mayor of Leicester and our special guest, Warren Astley, sharing the honours with Aidan, the boy who plays a part in the museum's new immersive experience as "Marcellus." Warren's journey as a local metal detectorist is a fitting reminder of how people continue to connect with history in remarkable ways.

The day was marked with Roman re-enactors from Up and At Em History and the incredible lyre player, Michel Levy, whose ancient music brought the spirit of Roman Leicester to life.

This momentous occasion was also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Friends of Jewry Wall, a group of passionate supporters who have played a vital role in promoting the museum and its mission to share the city’s heritage. Their unwavering commitment helped make this stunning transformation possible.

We were joined by our first official customer Rafal Cykman who travelled from Kettering. He had the pleasure of being the first member of the public to step inside the new exhibition.

We're thrilled to open our doors to the public.
