We were honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh during his recent visit to Leicester.

The Duke toured the museum, where 21st-century technology brings Roman history to life, and explored the remarkable Jewry Wall, one of the largest surviving Roman masonry structures in Britain. He also met with pupils from Sparkenhoe Primary School and spoke with staff and volunteers about the museum's role in sharing Leicester's heritage with the local community.

The visit concluded with the Duke of Edinburgh unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the museum's reopening. The ceremony was attended by invited guests, staff, and supporters, who were delighted to be a part of this historic occasion. The museum is deeply grateful for this recognition and proud to have hosted such a memorable event.
